An Austin mom and entrepreneur is on a mission to help young girls in need in Bangladesh. Dinnerware maker Darbie Angell is working to support a safe house for girls in Dhanmondi Thana, Bangladesh, and is inviting others to join the cause. The safe house provides a home and education for young girls seeking solace from the rampant prostitution in the city. The town of Dhanmondi Thana is home to more than 2,000 prostitutes, some of which are as young as 10-years-old. It is also home to 5,000 orphans who are regularly being pulled into this life. Angell, who works with factories in Bangladesh and has spearheaded past charitable endeavors there, such as digging water wells, hopes to raise $8,000 for the safe house. A portion of the proceeds from these boxes goes directly to giving the girls in the safe house in Dhaka City protection, a home, food and an education, so they can continue to dream big! You can also give additionally to this cause through the Darbie Angell: Our Safe House GoFundMe page, which helps fund the operation of the safe house.
